To simply say that I am proud of this young woman is a tremendous understatement. I remember the day my mom told me that I had a new cousin on the way. I remember us as kids, sneaking away from the adults at holidays to go play games together. Fast forward to now, and I am walking around the University of Illinois campus taking photos of her in her cap & gown to celebrate one of her most incredible achievements. Four long years of dedication to her school work, to her immense passion for playing in the Marching Illini Band, and to building a bright future for herself. She has worked so hard and has stayed so true to herself that she’s had prospective employers battle over who deserves to have her on their staff.
I cannot wait to see what she ends up doing and how her future work changes the world. As a specialist in Crop Science and Molecular Plant Biology, she very well may have a hand in innovating ways to help farmers find ways to keep their crops healthy & happy, which in turn gets great food onto your table.
